I was 14 years old the first time I saw money making money. It was an account statement full of green arrows, and the idea that capital could grow on its own captivated me. Like many teenagers, I thought my early trading success was due to innate skill, when in reality, a rising market made it nearly impossible to lose. By 17, I had sold my earnings to buy a sports car—the first of several choices that eventually led me back to my parents’ house at age 21, facing $25,000 in debt.
That season was a masterclass in accountability. Through those experiences, I developed a foundation for navigating both the technical and emotional sides of personal finance. Wanting to help others navigate the same complex relationship with money that had tripped me up, I decided to put those lessons to use and applied for a role as a financial advisor. It turned out to be the most pivotal application I’d ever sent; the contact person listed on the job posting was Erin Holland. That is how I met my wife.
My early years in the industry were defined by rapid growth, driven by seemingly endless 80-hour weeks. I had the good fortune of working under a great manager, who became a close friend and mentor; he taught me the value of constant learning and the importance of execution. While I found early success and was nationally recognized for my work, I soon realized that trying to be everything to everyone was a path to burnout. With Erin’s encouragement, I let go of the high-volume generalist mindset and shifted my practice to focus on delivering exceptional value to a select group of clients. This philosophy of deep, client focused, relationship-based service remains the core of my practice at Integrated today.
This shift was solidified when I engaged a top wealth management coaching firm. Following their strategic practice blueprint allowed me to move from a high-volume business to a high-conviction one. The results of this shift were significant; by focusing on a smaller group of families, I was able to transition to a practice built on long-term client loyalty and referrals—a model that has defined my business for over a decade. Today, nearly half of my clients, many of whom are business owners, have successfully reached their goal of making work optional through consistent, collaborative planning and execution.
IIn 2021, I moved my practice to an independent platform and founded Integrated Wealth Advisors to better serve our clients' needs. Most recently, in January 2026, we reached a new stage of growth by becoming a standalone SEC-registered investment adviser. We operate as a decentralized family office, coordinating fully customized professional teams for each of our clients to ensure cohesive alignment and proactive attention across every aspect of their financial life, with the same depth I learned to value early in my career.
My personal life has followed a similar path of continuous growth and impact. In 2015, Erin and I finalized the adoption of our children, J.R. and Roquena, from the Philippines. While our children are now grown and out of the house, raising them remains a core part of our story. We particularly enjoyed supporting their early entrepreneurial interests, such as Roquena’s former business, Tadhana Designs, where she focused on the original design and production of handmade gemstone bracelets. Erin has also continued to successfully scale her business and impact as an author and the Founding Partner of her firm Human Capital Acquisition, which provides executive search, strategy, and consulting to leading asset management firms.
Now that we are empty nesters, Erin and I spend our time outside the office hiking, traveling, golfing, and being pulled around the block by our English cream retrievers, Aspen and Stella. I also spend a significant amount of time collaborating with colleagues and friends across the country in mastermind groups, coaching relationships, and industry elevating IP projects. I also support F3, a national non-profit focused on fitness and leadership development, helping men become better leaders in their local communities.
